Where does the time go?

Well, my sister, not so politely asked me last night when I was going to update my blog... I told her that facebook had consumed all my free time, which it has. So if we aren't friends on facebook, "friend me" asap and then you can keep up with our life and times in "real time." And I'll try to update this more frequently!

While we were in Houston for a wedding, Paige had fun playing dress up with Papa's ranch hat and boots.

We went to Houston at the end of April for Christy Lee's (my high school friend) wedding.

Viva Fiesta! Every year San Antonio celebrates Fiesta - which is similar to New Orlean's Mardi Gras in that there is a week full of parties and events.

This year we went to the River Parade and to the Fireworks Party at the Country Club. Both were so fun!

Happy Easter. We had a great day celebrating and Paige loves to hunt for Easter Eggs. As we arrived home from church, Paige saw the eggs hidden in the yard and started screaming... "he came, he came!" PRECIOUS!

Lauren and I went to Chicago for a sister's trip in March.... so much fun. All we did was eat, drink and shop! Perfect Vacation!

For Spring Break we went to the coast with the Hughes Family. Nice getaway and Paige loves the beach.

Jack update

Jack is now 7 months old. At his 6 month check up his stats were:

28 1/4 inches - 95th percentile and 18 lbs, 7 oz - 60th percentile.

AT 6 months he was sitting up and now at 7 months is rolling over (finally - lazy little man.)

Barack Obama - sounds like.....

Over the weekend we went to dinner with some friends. Their son is in Paige's 3 year old pre-school class. His mailman is African American and when Scott saw him he went up to him and said "Are you Barack Obama?" The mailman politely said he was not and Scotty's response was "oh yea, you don't have the same shoes." I thought this was such a funny story and even more impressed that one of Paige's peers new who the President was.

Did this make us bad parents that we didn't educate our child on national news and politics - she's only three? So out of curiosity Andrew asked her, "Paige do you know who our President is?" And without hesitation she said, "Barack Obama." We were so impressed that she knew who he was. Our next question was "where did you learn that?" Her response - school. A few seconds passed and she said, "You know what Daddy - Barack Obama that sounds just like Taco Cabana." For those of you that aren't from San Antonio, Taco Cabana is a fast food mexican restaurant and she has always pronounced it "Cobana". You can imagine the laughter in our house that night. I'm sure our 44th President wouldn't like to sound like Taco C!

Jack turned 4 months old on 2/9!
He has such a great personality - he loves to talk and squeal and he gives the best smiles.
At his check up he came in weighing 15lbs, 9 oz - 60th percentile and was 27 inches long - 97th percentile. Looks like we are going to have another tall one on our hands.

Today we became Aunt Meredith & Uncle Andrew. Andrew's sister Lib and her husband Clark welcomed their son Campbell Pennington Wirth. He arrived at 5:51pm weighing 7lbs, 14oz. and measured 21 1/4 inches. We are excited to have a little boy for our sweet Jack to grow up with. Campbell

A very belated post of some October fun. Paige spent the weekend with her Cita and Papa and went to the Hunt School Carnival (just like I did when I was a kid) and a Pumpkin Patch with fall activities. She had so much fun.

Trip to Tennessee

We surprised Aunt YaYa for her 30th birthday and traveled to Tennessee to celebrate with her. I didn't get too many pics while there (I really am a slacker) but we had a fabulous time. These pictures are from the party Matthew hosted for Lauren - it was so well done!

Matthew's nephews Luke and Harrison were so sweet to Paige all weekend. We think Paige has a crush on Luke (red shirt). Anything he did, she wanted to do and anywhere she went, she wanted to go.

Paige had a wonderful third birthday party. Several of her friends from her class came enduring the endless rain for a full-house of fun. We intended to have her party in the backyard, but due to the rain our garage and house had to serve us well. The kiddos had a great time decorating their own cupcakes and running crazy. I'm just glad it's over :)!

Paige got a swingset for her birthday from Cita and Papa. We finished building it the other day - Andrew and I are very proud of ourselves - not only is the swing set done, but it is level and seems to be constructionally sound! Way to go us!

Yesterday was Paige's third birthday! Time flies way too fast. We celebrated with an afternoon swim and dinner with Andrew's family. We are having her birthday party next weekend and decided we needed to do something on her actual birthday too. Aunt Katie and Lib gave her "cool" Dora books and color books - her response when opening, "I love it." Nama and Pop took the cake with her new ballerina clothes. Paige has had the opportunity to take some sample ballet and tap classes at school this summer and absolutely loves it! She wore her tutu and her new ballet shoes around the restaurant twirling saying, "Look I'm a ballerina now." This fall she will be in classes and we can't wait for the recital next year :)

Paige has spent a lot of time this summer in the pool. She is fearless and recently has started trying to swim under water with her arms and legs. She is like her Aunt LaLa when it comes to the water, she just loves it!

We had such a good time with the Brewer family at Port Aranasa a few weekends ago. We all were there and got to celebrate Ginger's birthday with her two favorite things in the world - the beach and family. I unfortunately was a lazy butt and didn't get too many pics. Summer Vacation with the Steele Family was absolutely perfect. For those that have not been to Horseshoe Bay in Central Texas on Lake LBJ, I highly recommend a visit. The resort had several options for accommodations, pools, spa, marina activities etc. It was the perfect get away and only an hour and a half north of San Antonio! Paige loved everything about our trip: the pools were great, she made new friends every day, riding the "big" boat, the "little" boat (aka the wave runner", making brownies and then ice cream sundaes, eating junk food and no vegetables for four days, having her first "real" coca-cola, staying up late, and being with family. We can't thank Cita and Papa enough for a wonderful four days with our family.... hint, hint, looking forward to next year!

Our dear friends the Gardenhires stopped through San Antonio on their way home from their summer vacation over the weekend. It was the first time all three girls were able to play together. It was Paige's first experience in sharing with two other girls. Needless to say, there were many tears on Paige's end... especially with the below seen "princess sleeper chair." This has been in her closet and not played with for months now... but as soon as one of the Gardenhire girls saw it and wanted to play with it, she just couldn't bear to part! I'm hoping she was just exhausted from her date the night before with Montgomery Hughes at St. Andrew's parent's night out - she and Montgomery had a great time and the parents had a great time sans children!

Paige decided to broaden her horizon's this weekend and branch out in the boyfriend department. She met Major while visiting my father's house on Thursday and Friday. We had a great time at the coast (Port Aransas) this weekend with our friends the Hughes. There was plenty of beach fun! Paige, who was terrified of the ocean last year, absolutely loved it this year. She loved it when Andrew would carry her far out and jump in the waves. She also loved to sit on the beach and have the waves come up and wash over her. We can't wait to get back later this summer.

Crazy what Paige remembers. Last weekend it was soooo hot outside, I said "whew Paige it feels like summertime." She said, "I need my summer hat then." This hat we bought her last summer for our beach and pool trips. She went and grabbed it out of her closet and now feels she needs to wear it whenever we go outside.

There is nothing funnier than sitting in toddler chairs and having a meeting with your child's teacher. Today was Paige's end of the school year pre-school parent-teacher meeting. We are so blessed to have such a smart one on our hands. Her curriculum is now based on the 3-year old curriculm to keep her challenged and no surprise to us she is the assertive, outgoing one in her group. Wonder where she gets that from???

We took Paige for ice cream at Marble Slab on Sunday and she got to pick out the flavor and her one topping. Strawberry ice cream with sprinkles won. Her favorite part was trying the ice cream with the taste spoon and then using it to eat her ice cream. It was a fun afternoon.
